The Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center (IMC) is seeking a full time Program Director to coordinate and develop programs, coordinate volunteers, outreach and fundraising for the organization and a part time Program Coordinator to serve as the IMC liaison to the City of Urbana for the NEA Project, Open Scene: Debuts of Youth’s Views in Downtown Urbana. The project is Aug 1, 2016 through Sep 1, 2017.
Program Director Description
The Program Director is supported by an Operations Manager who manages the finances and facilities. of the IMC. Job begins August 1, 2016 Founded in 2000, our IMC is a grassroots organization committed to using media, arts, and technology to promote social and economic justice. We own the downtown Urbana post office building where we operate a performance venue, art gallery and studios, community radio station, media training facility, and community media space. Our projects include Makerspace Urbana, Books to Prisoners, the Public i Newspaper, WRFU 104.5 FM. The center is powered by volunteers who come together in a do-it-yourself spirit to create media and art to transform our community and world.
Salary and Benefits:
$15/hour. 40 hours/ week. 10 paid holidays and 12 all-purpose days. Health/personal care subsidy of $100/month.

- Proficiency with digital tools such as Microsoft Office, google docs and tools, e-newsletters, databases,and basic web updating
- Experience fundraising and writing grants strongly preferred
- Able to work flexible hours; including evenings and week-ends
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
IMC Promotions
Promote the IMC mission with its projects and working groups.
Promote venue space, artist studios, and events.
Actively seek out events, artists, and partners.
Manage the online calendar and events.
Keep organizational content on website up to date.
Membership & Volunteers
Assess volunteer needs.
Conduct external and internal outreach to increase membership and volunteers.
Track and communicate with members, volunteers, and all organizational contacts.
Propose membership benefits and policies to the board.
Donations & Grants
Support the fundraising efforts of the Board and the fundraising committee.
Produce fundraising events.
Produce regular donation appeals and ensure donations are acknowledged.
Grow income from individuals, government, foundation, community shares, and for-profit sources.
Manage grants, tracking, and reporting (including the IL Arts Council and Cultural Data Project).
Organizational Partnerships & Programming
Develop programming in coordination with the Programming Committee.
Serve as contact and manager of fiscal sponsorship agreements.
Support the IMC as an anchor in the Media Action Grassroots Network.
Coordinate Media Training
Coordinate volunteers to offer regular media trainings.
Maintain production studio and check out media equipment.
Work with volunteers to ensure the function of radio automation & livestream.
Management
Supervise the Program Coordinator to ensure NEA Grant requirements are fulfilled.
Provide regular supervision and written progress reports to Board of Directors and staff.
Administration
Develop and maintain an annual organizational plan with the board.
Submit a comprehensive monthly progress report to the board.
Keep regular office hours and manage day-to- day issues as they arise.
SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION:
The Program Director reports to and is evaluated annually by the UCIMC Board of Directors.
